Alonzo Menifield utilizies his wrestling and some brutal ground-and-pound to put away Askar Mozharov at UFC Vegas 56
Askar Mozharov has come under scrutiny recently for questions surrounding the legitimacy of his professional MMA record. But there will be no doubt that he has tasted defeat in the UFC now, courtesy of a first-round finish by Alonzo Menifield to open the UFC Vegas 56 main card.
Despite starting the fight off with a hard head shot, Menifield looked to use his grappling and defense to his advantage in this battle, getting the battle to the ground almost right away and keeping him there. Mozharov seemed to have no answer for Menifield’s wrestling.

Mozharov did eventually get a sweep to get Menifield off of him, but Menifield brought the action right back down.
Menifield then locked Mozharov in a crucifix and landed some sharp elbows until Mozharov was KO’d.
Menifield has now won three of his last four in the Octagon.
